Harnessing the Power of Apache Superset

So, how could we select a platform that would effectively meet all our clients’ requirements?

After thorough investigation, we came up with Apache Superset , an open-source data exploration and demonstration tool, that offers a powerful and intuitive solution for creating interactive dashboards and displays.

After all, Airbnb, Lyft, Twitter, Udemy, and various other organizations adopted Superset to support their data depiction needs, why should we go with commercial alternatives?

To enhance the outcomes further, we opted to integrate Superset with our Angular Web Application template.

By combining Apache Superset into Angular web applications, developers can leverage its rich features and capabilities to deliver an exceptional data visualization experience:

  1. Interactive Data Exploration: Apache Superset provides a user-friendly interface to explore and analyze large datasets. Its intuitive drag-and-drop interface allows users to easily create interactive charts, tables, and graphs.

  2. Data Visualization: With a wide range of visualization options, including bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, and heatmaps, Apache Superset enables developers to present data in a visually appealing and meaningful manner. These visualizations can be customized to suit the specific requirements of the Angular application.

  3. Dynamic Dashboards: Apache Superset allows the creation of dynamic dashboards that can be updated in real-time. Users can interact with the data, apply filters, and drill down to explore specific aspects, providing a comprehensive view of the information.

To achieve the desired outcome, we proceeded with the following steps:

Step 1 - Set up Apache Superset: To integrate Apache Superset in the Angular web application, we set up and configured Apache Superset on a server.

Step 2 - Define Superset Embedding Parameters: We embedded Apache Superset within Angular application and defined the embedding parameters such as the URL of the Superset instance, the dashboard or chart to be displayed, and any filters or parameters to be applied.

Step 3 - Implement Embedding in Angular : In the Angular application, we created components for dashboards and charts that retrieve and display the embedded Apache Superset visualization. We also used iframes and Superset’s embedding API to load the visualization within the Angular application.

Step 4 - Customization and Interaction with the Visualization: After embedding Apache Superset visualization in the Angular application, we customized its appearance and behavior using CSS and Superset’s API. We enabled interactivity by allowing users to apply filters, drill down into data, and dynamically update the visualization.

Step 5 - Secure Authentication and Authorization: We implemented secure authentication and authorization mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the embedded Apache Superset visualization. We achieved this by implemented an OAUTH 2.0 authorization server and configured the related Superset’s authentication providers.
